“It’s seems ironic that most of us value relationships but don’t expend the energy to invest in them fully.” ~Kerry Shook

I couldn’t have said it better myself. So when I woke up this morning and read that quote, I decided to make the extra effort to invest fully in the relationships that mean the most to me. But as I begin to do so, I realized that this was an exercise that was best suited for the entire group. With that understanding in mind, I’ve detailed your instructions for the day:

Before the day ends, write a note to someone who means a lot to you, briefly explaining just how much they mean to you. Here are two examples:

For Her

Good morning,

I know you’re working, but I just wanted you to know that someone was thinking of you. I hope this message makes you smile, and I hope it can be used as ammunition if at any point you begin to feel frustrated or overwhelmed. In those moments, just relax, shake it off, and keep pushing. You’re a special woman, and I pray that the world continues to see what I see. Well, I didn’t want to interrupt your work flow, but I had to let you know what was on my mind and on my heart. Talk to you soon.

For Him

Hey Handsome,

I figured I would send you a note just to let you know that I appreciate you. I know that I’ve told you this before, but you really deserve to hear it from me again … I think you’re a good man. And I respect you for the way you work hard, the way you pursue your goals, and most importantly, the way you treat me. I hope you read this message and understand just how much you mean to me. Now get back to conquering the world … I just had to let you know that you were on my mind, and that you were appreciated.

**I don’t expect you to use either of those examples verbatim, but I do expect you to look inside your heart, and give an honest explanation as to why you care about that person. It doesn’t have to be long, and it doesn’t have to be poetic. But it does have to come straight from the heart … and it also has to happen today. So get to it, and report back here, letting us know either what you said, or how it was received.

Fly Side Note: This doesn’t have to be strictly directed towards a significant other. Today is the perfect day to also invest in your relationships with family members and close friends. Whatever you decide to do, don’t let the day pass without you letting someone know that you truly care.
