This week, we begin a new chapter in the life of the Fly Guy Chronicles with a new component called Fly Poetry. Within this section, a platform will be given to many of the talented poets and wordsmiths who wish to express their unique and pointed perspectives on love and relationships. First up: Paris Morton, a talented creative writer who passionately compares a former love to a modern day Romeo and Juliet scenario. Just like Shakespeare’s piece, this too has a tragic, yet heartfelt ending. Enjoy.

Modern Day Romeo and Juliet

This love is like a scene in Romeo and Juliet
But wherefore art thou Romeo, I fret
The words to express my undying love I am trying to find
But it is you that I have to remind that this love was real, this I know

I loved you so deep you felt it you know!!
You loved me the same how can you claim
That you are meant to give someone else your name
What can I do to prove to you?

Die on this day for you to have a clue
That your life is meaningless without me around
Don’t give up, please show me that you have found
Your heart which is bound to mine forever
Without me you’re soul is dying, it’s severed

We are soulmates this you have been told before,
but I won’t glorify the name of “us” anymore
I loved you more than life it’s self, But I need help!
His life of mine is at its wit’s end along with my health

We were the strongest together you know
But we lost that fire because you decided to go
I take this knife to my heart because without you I’ve fallen apart
I take my life because I can’t have your heart

You were my Romeo and I was your Juliet
Nevertheless, forget this to my grave is where I’m headed!
I can no longer love I am stuck
You hurt me so much how could you mess up

A love that God gave you to worship
But without me your heart can’t serve it’s purpose
Like me you’re dead
So love always remember the things I have said

I love you forever
But like everything else…there is no such thing as forever
I will now just be a memory inside of your head.

R.I.P.

Forever

…..Forever means nothing to me.
