“Blessed quietness … holy quietness … what assurance, in my soul.” I can still hear my mother and grandmother singing that song back in the day when church services seemed to last ALL DAY. The song—which I’m sure is still being sang somewhere—speaks to the beauty of silence in the midst of chaos, and how it allows you the opportunity to hear God’s voice.

I’ve often wondered why we habitually tell people what they want to hear, instead of just practicing a little honesty. Now, I’m in no way speaking as an innocent here as I’ve been guilty of this same offense. I just think it needs to stop.
