Frustration. Confusion. Loneliness. Hurt. Any of these sound familiar? They have all met us at some point on our journey to finding a fulfilling love. One of our resident fly poet’s CeCe has captured the rawness of that emotion today, expressing the feelings we had long since hoped to articulate. Enjoy.

Written by: CeCe Clark

All I seek is happiness,
yet time and time again all I find is pain.
I am a magnetic field of woe,
attracting all the hurt and disappointment that can be mustered.
I am a wet, seeping volcano of frustration,
yearning for the most simple of life’s pleasures-
to feel my heart smile.
I am alone,
a sole system of mass confusion and unfulfilled desire.
My words only bring slight tolerance
of each anticipated situation, each cringing memory crouching in me.
Is it a curse to be the strongest?
To endure and continue to survive?
My experience calls me to question
the inevitable ever so evasive “WHY?”

One of my favorite poets just blessed me with a new piece that I had to share. For men (myself included), the real challenge with dating is rarely the approach … instead, it’s the execution once we win her heart. Do we truly know how to be “the man,” and be that anchor within a relationship? Well, that’s precisely the question being posed by the author.

Although this piece specifically speaks to what she desires in man, I believe the essence of her words is universal.

So read, digest, and give me a fly critical analysis of how this piece speaks to you. Deal?

Oh, and while you’re at it, make sure you show Corina some love on Twitter. We’ve got to support talent when we come across it.

________________________

I need you to be grounded in spirit,
set in your beliefs
I need you to have faith in yourself,
and the power of what you can’t see
I need to be proud to follow you,
and trust where you will lead
I need you to take ownership of your manhood,
and be a man for me
I need you to stand for something
and to know
your purpose
is not just to get rich
I need your presence in my life
to be my wounded heart’s last stitch.

Ahhh…..the beautiful fragrance of self expression—there’s nothing like it; nothing more enticing; and certainly nothing more satisfying than a woman poignantly expressing herself to me. So you can imagine that I was immediately drawn to the following piece as soon as I read it. I might need to find her…

Fly
his pulse quickens,
the plot thickens.
and i’m arrested by this development.
made up of lines and elements.
breaking the mold.
over
& over
& over.
and when the flow goes with me,
i can go with the flow.
letting unexposed parts of ME show.
no need for that foreign inhalation.
i take you for your word,
for your information.
and as we stand in formation:
i’d rather lie,
here.
and memorize this brown looking back at me.

Here’s a little afternoon Fly Poetry to help you digest your lunch. Feel free to send this to your significant other and act like they inspired this. But wait … make sure they don’t read my site as well before you do it.

I have only one wish…
To see your smile.

I have only one wish…
To feel your touch.

I have only one wish…
To look into your eyes and get that feeling of seeing your soul.

I have only one wish…
To be there at all times when you needs me,
Through good times and bad.

I have only one wish…
To feel your lips on mine at least one time.

I have only one wish…
To end the feeling of me missing you and not even knowing you.

I have only one wish…
To have you give me a chance to prove that I can make you happy.

OK, so I have more than one wish…

I only have one wish now that cancels all those out
and makes up for all of them…

I wish that one day you will feel how serious I am about you
and decide to take a chance on the wonderful times we could share…
Which includes all my other wishes and puts them into one.

This week, we begin a new chapter in the life of the Fly Guy Chronicles with a new component called Fly Poetry. Within this section, a platform will be given to many of the talented poets and wordsmiths who wish to express their unique and pointed perspectives on love and relationships. First up: Paris Morton, a talented creative writer who passionately compares a former love to a modern day Romeo and Juliet scenario. Just like Shakespeare’s piece, this too has a tragic, yet heartfelt ending. Enjoy.

Modern Day Romeo and Juliet

This love is like a scene in Romeo and Juliet
But wherefore art thou Romeo, I fret
The words to express my undying love I am trying to find
But it is you that I have to remind that this love was real, this I know

I loved you so deep you felt it you know!!
You loved me the same how can you claim
That you are meant to give someone else your name
What can I do to prove to you?

Die on this day for you to have a clue
That your life is meaningless without me around
Don’t give up, please show me that you have found
Your heart which is bound to mine forever
Without me you’re soul is dying, it’s severed

We are soulmates this you have been told before,
but I won’t glorify the name of “us” anymore
I loved you more than life it’s self, But I need help!
His life of mine is at its wit’s end along with my health

We were the strongest together you know
But we lost that fire because you decided to go
I take this knife to my heart because without you I’ve fallen apart
I take my life because I can’t have your heart

You were my Romeo and I was your Juliet
Nevertheless, forget this to my grave is where I’m headed!
I can no longer love I am stuck
You hurt me so much how could you mess up

A love that God gave you to worship
But without me your heart can’t serve it’s purpose
Like me you’re dead
So love always remember the things I have said

I love you forever
But like everything else…there is no such thing as forever
I will now just be a memory inside of your head.

R.I.P.

Forever

…..Forever means nothing to me.
