I recently hung out with actor/comedian Marlon Wayans in Los Angeles, as we worked to produce a cover shoot for Rolling Out Magazine. Towards the end of our time together, we got a chance to jump into my favorite topic, which is love and relationships.

I can vividly remember the acute nausea as it churned at the pit of my stomach. Was this the after effects of that macaroni surprise I cooked earlier? Or maybe this was just my body’s way of telling me that it didn’t appreciate the almost 3 minutes of “Real Chance of Love” I subjected it to while looking for the remote control. Wait, who am I kidding …

“I can’t take it any more.” That’s usually the last thought that runs through someone’s mind right before they decide to officially end a relationship. But what ultimately drives a person to this point? While each situation is unique in its own right, there are common factors that can force us all to throw in the towel.

I had a dream last night. In it, I possessed something that for so long had been absent from my interactions with you…Courage. I had the courage to finally walk away; the courage to express that I’m no longer happy; and the courage to tell myself that I’m better off without you.

Pop quiz: “What’s the correct way to ask a woman out on a date?” Now the average man has been approaching women since around age 12 (and some of us much earlier), but there still seems to be a lack of clear understanding on the proper way to ask a woman out.

Can I ask you a personal question? Don’t worry, your answer will be kept between you, me, and whoever else decides to read this: Have you ever been cheated on before? Well judging from the letters and emails that I receive daily, it sure seems that way.

Another week begins, and similar to when we left on Friday, there are still so many questions in the world of love and relationships left unanswered. This weekend, I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and really got a chance to observe the dynamics of “the pursuit of love” in a meaningful way.

I apologize for being M.I.A. the past two days, but I’m officially back. Sometimes when I’m on the road, it gets hard to really sit down and connect with you in a meaningful way. So instead of half-heartedly throwing something out there, I’d rather just wait until I can give you all of my attention.

I’ve been sitting here for the past 30 minutes trying to remember the last time I approached a woman using a pick up line. The concept seems so foreign to me at this stage of my life. Long gone are the wild college days where I’d seemingly bump into a new “most beautiful woman” every three days … I was a trip.
