My heart aches … And my soul remains despondent …The rest of me just resembles a former shell of itself—a now unfortunate collection of cursed molecules that no longer understands its place nor purpose in this universe. There was actually a time when I sincerely believed that my sole purpose in life was to love you with everything that I had within me. And I did that … I swear I did.

Webster defines heartbreak as “great sorrow, grief, or anguish.” But in my life, I define heartbreak as the one singular event capable of bringing any man to his knees. More harmful than any cut, scrape or bruise could ever be, the damage that’s inflicted by a broken heart should never be underestimated.

During my time as The Fly Guy, I’ve been fortunate enough to learn many invaluable lessons. The most important of which is this: People don’t always want love advice. Sometimes, they just want to be left to their feelings. This typically happens during a painful breakup. And while kind words and deeds occasionally help, there’s only so many times that a person wants to hear, “everything will be ok.”

“I think we should spend some time apart.”As the words left her mouth, I could literally feel the life being sucked out of my body. Sir Isaac Newton once said that “for every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction,” … but I didn’t think he meant this.

It seems like we’ve been talking about heartbreak an awful lot lately. That needs to stop. So for this edition of audio love, we’ll give heartbreak its proper sendoff (at least for the time being) with 10 of my favorite break up songs.

“I don’t want to talk about,” he said. “She’s not here anymore, and there’s nothing left to discuss.” As he trudged out of the room, the loneliness that was painfully clouding his heart left this sense of uneasiness within the room. What did this woman do to him? And could the absence of someone really bring forth such darkness over someone who was once so full of life? Apparently so.

Disclaimer: The following topic is admittedly an emotional one. Well not as emotional as when Bobby Brown left New Edition … but emotional nonetheless. I look forward to us having a spirited discussion on a topic that has affected us all either directly or indirectly.

I didn’t want things to reach this point, but you’ve forced my hand. It’s over between us. There I said. It’s not like I haven’t said this before … you just refuse to listen. So that’s why I’ve decided to take the drastic step of saying it in front of the entire world. Now there’s no longer room for debate.

There was no mistaking the words pumping out of my speakers. These were the distinctive sounds of a man experiencing a foreign emotion. Heartbreak. “She said that she would be with me forever,” he lamented. “She said I’m in love with you. She said now baby don’t forget … that no one’s going to love you more than I do.”
