In my line of work, I’ve been fortunate to meet so many amazing people … some famous, others infamous, and then there are those who I consider to be the true stars because of their pure hearts and beautiful spirits. But no matter the type of person, I’m always fascinated when I meet women who seemingly have it together, but for one reason or another just can’t figure it out when it comes to matters of the heart.

Last night, I aimlessly walked the streets of Amsterdam with no set destination in mind. Now, it wasn’t like I didn’t have anywhere to go … in fact, it was quite the opposite. But before I could make my scheduled dinner plans, I wanted to walk and clear my mind a bit.

I’ve always been a big believer in family. So much so, that a large majority of the people that I consider to be friends are related to me.

Let me address this right off the bat. This post should not be seen as an indictment on your ability to effectively flirt with women. I think that we—and by we, I’m referring to myself and your close loved ones—can all agree that you are the man when it comes to wooing the ladies.

Let me be candid for a moment: while lasting love is the ultimate end goal to your relationship journey, there are a few things that you’ll have to give up the moment you decide to commit. Some concessions will be good, and others … well, let’s just say that they’ll take a little getting used to.

I haven’t been myself lately. But you don’t need to hear it from me, as I’m sure you could already tell. For the past few months, there haven’t been many instances where I’ve shared my writing to the masses. Lately, it’s been a tweet here, or a Facebook post there … but none of that would make you sit back and say, “dang, he did that.”

In case you’re keeping score at home, 2010 should be categorized as a major disappointment. The economy never truly stabilized, the Bravo Network failed to create a “Real Housewives of Compton” show, and The Fly Guy Chronicles was largely absent from the national discourse on love and relationships. Sounds like one big fail to me.

Guys ask me this question all the time: “How do you know if she’s the one?” Instead of that inquiry, the real question that I wish they would ask is, “How do I know if she’s not the one?” Taking that position instead of the latter makes it so much easier to approach dating. Many have asked where I’ve been over the last month or so, and I figured I owed you all an explanation. But instead of whipping up some fancily written justification, I decided to do it face-to-face with a morning video. I hope you accept my apology, and if you don’t … then … well … ummm … I’m not sure what to tell you.
