I’ve been searching for the right way to break this news to you; but for the first time in my life, I’m at a loss for words. You may not have known this, but I made a solemn promise long ago that I would strive to never disappoint you. And for the most part I’ve succeeded. But then this happened…

For the past few days, I’ve been secretly engaging in an act that I know you wouldn’t approve of. And instead of you hearing it from someone else, I figured you should hear it from me first. As hard as this is for me to admit, I pray that you will continue to stand by my side, and help me make it through this stormy period in my life. I guess the only thing that’s left now is for me to just come out and say it…(sigh)

There I said it. I hope you can look past this flaw, and continue to love me. As much as we’ve been through, I don’t think this one thing (although it’s a really big thing) should change things between us. The (Not So) Fly Scenario:
Things were going so well. Or so I thought. But if that were really the case, then I wouldn’t have this sharp, agonizing pain in my chest right now, would I? She dropped by my place tonight, and what was initially supposed to be a romantic evening, turned really bad—really fast.

Halfway through our night, I became so overwhelmed by my appreciation for her, that I grabbed her by the hands, and promised that I would either give her the world one day, or die trying.

She looked away…

When she turned back to me, her eyes were watery, and I knew something was wrong. She told me that as much as it hurt her to say it; she was still in love with another man.

Damn…

She continued on by telling me that even though he could never come close to treating her as well I could; she still couldn’t ignore her heart’s gravitational pull towards him.

F*ck…

How am I supposed to pick up the pieces after this one? My mother told me days like this were bound to come, but I didn’t expect it to get this bad.

I need a drink…

I looked in her eyes, and saw the endless amounts of pain and frustration that he had caused. Though she couldn’t see it through her tears, I was sent to rescue her; ultimately elevating her to a place where her heart could once again be safe.

I wanted to take care of her…
I wanted to make her happy…
I wanted to change her life…

So I took her in my arms, held her close, and promised that she’d never hurt again as long as I had breath in my body. She then lost herself in my embrace, let go, and allowed me to take my rightful place in her life.

But such an ending is oftentimes only found in carefully tailored Hollywood scripts. Which brings us to today’s Fly Question.

Fonzsworth Bentley has released a video to coincide with the launch of his new MTV special “G’s to Gents.” Gotta say, I’m digging the feel, although the song would probably sit a little better with me minus the Bentley contribution.

Today’s episode of Fly Guy TV finds me catching up with Slim of platinum-selling recording group 112. Buoyed by the success of his first single, “So Fly” featuring Yung Joc and Shawty Lo, Slim is currently gearing up for a massive solo campaign. His hectic schedule didn’t prevent him from stopping by Fly Guy TV though, as he was more than ready to share his views on life, love and relationships.

Last month, I featured Sara Bareilles’ “Gravity” as a Fly Lyrics feature. Even now, the song continues to resonate with me, as countless readers still struggle with the tough task of breaking free from the clutches of an old flame. “Set me free,” is what they all seem to be helplessly crying out in their emotional letters to me.

The raw emotion shown throughout this rendition of “Gravity” tangibly displays the pain and frustration of being held down by a former love that just won’t let you go. If you can relate to the plight of Bareilles and others, then I’m sure this video will strike a lasting chord with you.
