It’s time to take things back to the good old days … back when love felt a tad bit simpler … back when music made you nod your head in approval instead of scratching it in confusion …

I have long insisted that the power of music knows no bounds. When you take that fundamental truth, and factor in the beauty of love and one dope DJ, then you’ve instantly stumbled upon something absolutely explosive. The perfect sonic storm that I’m referring to was created when one of my favorite DJs, Lissa Monet, stepped to the plate with the 2nd installment of her romantic mixtape series.

Webster defines heartbreak as “great sorrow, grief, or anguish.” But in my life, I define heartbreak as the one singular event capable of bringing any man to his knees. More harmful than any cut, scrape or bruise could ever be, the damage that’s inflicted by a broken heart should never be underestimated.

I can’t get enough of old school love songs from the 90’s—well, old school for me that is. I’m sure there’s some of you that claim the Temptations as your old school, while others may consider B2K as throwback. No matter your preference, this new fly feature will pit two songs against each other in a weekly showdown. First up: SWV faces off against The Deele.

Sometimes it gets hard … no scratch that, sometimes it becomes downright impossible to remember all that’s great about love. Whether that’s due to a personal situation that you’re dealing with, or the stress from other areas in your life, love can often become a frustrating exercise that you’d rather do without.

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to create an air of love, passion and understanding to officially kick start our weekend. How do we do that? Simple. By creating a group playlist that expresses the joyous highs of love. Easy enough, right? I’ll start it off, and as you submit songs, I’ll add them to the playlist throughout the day.
