Rihanna’s “Take A Bow”

I normally stay away from radio singles when selecting my weekly Fly Lyrics Feature. But I felt Rihanna’s latest single, “Take A Bow” was well worth the change. As I listened to the lyrics, my thoughts began to drift to those who eventually grow tired of the empty promises and apologies thrown about by (in)significant others.

Janelle Monae’s “My Favorite Nothing”

How many of us have ever stared true love right in the face, only to inexplicably allow it to pass us by? Though unfortunate, it happens more often than any of us may care to admit. As fate would have it, by the time we do come to our senses, it’s oftentimes too late to claim what should have been ours from the start.

Mariah Carey’s “Thanx 4 Nothin”

There comes a time in every man or woman’s life when enough is enough. You opened up to someone and trusted them, eventually exposing yourself in ways you promised you’d never do again. And what did you get in return? Heartache and disappointment. In the end, you just threw your hands up in despair, confused as to what you did to deserve such a cruel fate. Sound familiar?

Fly Inspiration- It’s Over Now

I spend the majority of my days working to infuse equal amounts of sound advice and smart humor into this column. More often then not, things work out beautifully; but there are times when…well let’s just say that my approach doesn’t quite work out in the way that I intended.

Fly Lyrics- Fatty Koo’s “Chills”

“I simply adore you. Not just for who you are, but for how you make me feel. Since words can’t accurately display the full depths of my love for you, I decided to write you a song. I love you.”

At least that’s what I would have said. Check out Fatty Koo’s “Chills,” this week’s Fly Lyrics Feature, and you’ll see what I mean.

Fly Lyrics- Kirk Franklin’s “It Would Take All Day”

I never knew love could be described so beautifully. And then I heard this song. Though I know it’s impossible for any of us to love another person as deeply, and as unconditionally as God loves each of us, I still think there’s so much for us to learn from His example. Listen to Kirk Franklin’s “It Would Take All Day,” and pay close attention to the words. Then you’ll see what I mean.

Bad Gyrl is Movin’ Out

It’s not often that a new artist comes along and catches the Fly Guy’s attention. Well burgeoning R&B trio Bad Gyrl has done just that with an impressive release entitled, “Movin’ Out.” Drenched with emotions, this cut deals with the prospects of finally being fed up enough to walk away from a failed relationship…a scenario that’s all too familiar to each and every one of us. So check out “Movin’ Out,” and let me know what you think. I’m sure you’re fall in love with Bad Gyrl, just as I have.

Fly Lyrics: Emily King’s “Never Be Lonley

No one really wants to be alone…myself included. In fact, it’s only natural to catch yourself occasionally thinking about the one that got away. “What if I would have done things differently,” you’ve asked yourself. That question can be haunting as it forces you to long for happier times. Incredibly talented singer/ songwriter Emily King can relate, and expresses a similar sentiment in “Never Be Lonely,” this week’s Fly Lyrics Feature.

Come Back To Bed

John Mayer tells an all too familiar story in “Come Back To Bed.” So read the lyrics, watch the performance, and let’s discuss the following topic…

Have you ever been in the midst of an argument with your significant other, and wanted to pause it just so you could have a peaceful night’s sleep? It’s happened to me more times than Bobby Brown has missed a child support payment so I can definitely relate. What about you?

Fly Lyrics: Mario’s “Crying Out For Me”

“I can’t stand to see you hurt like this.”
You know, it absolutely tears me apart to see someone getting used and abused by another man…especially if my heart longs to love them myself. So I can relate to R&B crooner Mario’s dilemma in “Crying Out For Me,” this week’s Fly Lyrics Feature. Enjoy.
