Pop quiz: “What’s the correct way to ask a woman out on a date?”

Now the average man has been approaching women since around the tender age of 12. (for some of us, like myself and Diddy, it was much earlier than that.)

The words that pour through my pen represent a concentrated overflow of all of the passion, pain and promise that I’ve experienced throughout the years. And while I work through my ability to freely share it all with you, I take solace in the fact that others have successfully achieved that level of openness

For as much as I write about love and relationships, I still have so much to learn. Love is just one of those things that I’ll probably never get a full grasp on (It’s sad, but true.) So instead of being hard on myself about it, I just use sound judgment, pray for the best, and let the chips fall where they may.

Word on the street is that she’s mad at you again. At this point, you probably have a better chance at degreasing Jermaine Jackson, than you do at gaining her forgiveness. So let’s try a different approach. This time around, try using music as a tool to ease your way back into her good graces. Here are five songs that may do the trick.

When it comes to women, I get it. From an early age, I have always known how to express my feelings in a way that was both crystal clear, and that spoke directly to the sincerity by which they were said. I have that down pat. It’s because of this gift that I often find myself growing increasingly frustrated when I’m unable to express the love that I have for God with that same level of conviction.

I was often told that a picture was worth a thousand words. But as I’ve gotten a little older and a tad bit wiser, I’ve come to realize that powerful imagery is worth so much more than those thousand words … especially when it speaks to the very pulse of your passion for another person.

I appreciated that valuable life lesson, as it’s served me well along the way—particularly as I navigate the sometimes rocky terrain of the entertainment industry.

One of my mother’s favorite TV shows used to be Bill Cosby’s “Kids Say the Darndest Things.” I can still remember how the off-the-wall comments by the kids used to make her laugh uncontrollably. I’m sure that if you tried hard enough, you could undoubtedly write some beautiful, flowery prose potent enough to metaphorically knock her socks off … but let’s pause on that for a moment. Instead, I want you to focus on mastering the art of being direct, and saying exactly what you feel.

In my line of work, I’ve been fortunate to meet so many amazing people … some famous, others infamous, and then there are those who I consider to be the true stars because of their pure hearts and beautiful spirits. But no matter the type of person, I’m always fascinated when I meet women who seemingly have it together, but for one reason or another just can’t figure it out when it comes to matters of the heart.
