I Believe In … Love

Thank God for good music. If it wasn’t for the inspired gifts offered by talented artists, then I honestly don’t know what I’d use to kick start my creative inner visions…

An episode of Basketball Wives? Ummm, no.
A “Who’s the Boss” marathon? Absolutely not.

Then what?

Thankfully, there’s enough good music out here to last me for a lifetime. An excellent example of music that pays it forward by inspiring others comes from up-and-comer Frank Ocean. If you haven’t listened to his mixtape then you’ve been doing your ears a huge disservice (download here)

He has one song in particular that has really been speaking to me lately. It even forced to me to take a long hard look at the things that I believe in. As it pertains to love, I believe the following:

I believe that God has a unique plan for my life—one that involves me encouraging others to engage in the purest forms of love.

I believe that there is a special woman out there for me.

I believe that for every one of my flaws, there is a woman who is willing to both accept and help me overcome them.

I believe that when it comes to love, both men and women make things unnecessarily hard.

I believe that the pain of a broken heart is only temporary.

I believe that we should all experience heartbreak one time, just so we can truly understand the pain we inflict on others.

But most importantly, I believe in love.

Simple enough, right?
