I believe differences can help or hurt a relationship. This was a very good list of things that could go either way. For me the financials situation would effect the relationship in a good or bad way. If you are with someone who does not knwo how to manage their money, but they are willing to change and work on the finances then it's ok. If you are with someone who does not take the initiative to change then it will end up hurting the household financially (foreclosure, bankruptcy ect...) Another that could hurt a relationship for me is the cleaniness of a person. I like to be comfortable, and it iritates me when someone does not clean up after themselves. Differences can help because it can allow the relationship to grow and for the individuals to grow as well.

Real differences can both help and hurt, depending on the difference. For me, him being a Muslim, over even Jewish to my Christianity would lead toward hurting the relationship. Financial is another that would definitely have a negative effect. Political and social-types of differences would likely not be a big issue depending on the extent. I think those types of differences create a greater opportunity to grow with each other.

good list Flyguy...I would add to personality types like she's a homebody and he's social (or visa versa)...that balance maybe ok in the beginning but it can become an issue later on.....
