The Civil War Between Black Men Rages On

I received an email this morning that I wanted to share with the group. Now I’m not going to add too much of my own opinion here as the letter and video pretty much say it all…

OK, I’m lying.

The real reason that I’m not saying anything is because I’m too busy laughing. To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t think I’ve EVER laughed this hard in my life … seriously. This has officially made my day.

Check out the letter and video.

What’s Up Fly Guy,

I live in Atlanta, and I’m officially tired of women asking me if I’m gay. I can’t even blame them though. There are so many examples of bisexual dudes out here that I’m sure the women just want to be sure. Anyway, I saw this video and had to share it with you. WTF is going on with these dudes out here? How can we get back to the days when a woman didn’t have to question the sexuality of every single man that she encounters? These dudes are really messing it up for us all. There’s a civil war going on and they are winning. What do you think?

~TG

The Video

Fly Question Of The Day: As a woman, do you feel the need to question the sexuality of every man that approaches you?

For the guys:
Have you experienced a frustration similar to the guy in the email?

    I know I memorized the words of the song…lol…ROFL! That’s a mess.

I only will look at a guy twice if he does something that looks weird and feminine for a man. Otherwise, I give him the benefit of the doubt. Miss Honey!

Ha. He looks like NeNe from The Real Housewives.

  • Demetrius

    wow….

Umm….at first, I thought this was going to be about Black man vs. Black man violence…

I don’t know about any war against gay Black men and straight men.

I don’t think there’s a civil war….that wording may be a bit strong. But the way he phrased it really stuck out to me, so I wanted to pose it to the group in a similar fashion.

I can’t view the video But I’m very aware of this topic. I’ve had a gay friend who had a huge crush on me But he was very openly gay & I ,like most women would never consider dating a bi sexual man. From my experience There is no straight vs gay men because a lot of the suppose 2 be hetero R actually down low brothas & bein around gay man & listenin 2 them talk ITS a lot of DOWN LOW men out here! More than most women aware of. Wishing for the old days is just wishing for a society where most gay men stayed in the closet instead of steppin out & proclaiming their sexuality like now. Yall should really catch the HBO documentary airing now about the gay politicians in D.C. & listen to their stories. I would much rather KNow a man is doing other men then continue this unspoken cycle that is contributing do higher STD rates among black americans. BUT with the stigma attached 2 being gay esp as a black man I don’t see many men coming forth sayin I sleep with other man BUT my overall message is to know & claim YOUR sexuality & use protection Every Time!

I haven’t seen the video yet, but to answer the question simply… YES. It’s a something I hate doing, but it’s too common now a days… especially in West LA

I too would rather know if a guy is gay or bi than for him to hide. I am questioning a guy I’m dating now. He says he isn’t gay but a lot of things are telling me otherwise.

LMAO… Fly Guy… This video has left me speechless. Wow. I do not know what to say. I could sympathize with the guy in the email (even empathize with the few times I’ve visited ATL), but I can not even get mad at women for asking. I’m pretty sure you’ve been to Atlanta yourself.

Any1 having trouble posting like me??

  • http://www.flyguychronicles.com The Fly Guy

what kind of trouble are you having?

  • Mizz T

I never even thought of questioning a guy that i’m interested in his sexual orientation and I live in NY which is different from ATL because here guys try to act so “hard” and are very homophobic so most likely there are a lot of guys possibly on the DL and if i dare ask a guy if he’s gay he’ll cuss my a$$ out

After 3 minutes and 47 seconds, I still don’t know what that song is about. Sadly, with the way things are going on in the world today, I would as a man if he dabbles in homosexuality. Although knowing he may or may not answer truthfully and may get upset that I even thought he would. Personally, I rather be single and not have to deal with any of it.

It takes hours for my post 2 show up

I’m not gonna say that there’s a civil war going on….but can any of you ladies out there explain to a Brotha why it seems like all the gay dudes get the most play from women?

I would think that if a woman is normally functioning, single, actually looking for a man, and heterosexual that she’d be investing her energy in finding a STRAIGHT man to accomplish said mission with…..

And some of y’all ladies need to get your Gay-dar adjusted. I’m a straight guy and I can often sniff out gay dudes (and gay women, too….I don’t do lesbians) from a mile away. lol

  • ThoneyGSweet

here in chicago ther’s a deinite war. you never know who’s str8 orgay and after going to the gay clubs w/ friends i decided to not even chance it. most of those guys in there looked STRAIGHT! didn’t act feminine or anything. i just date whiteboys and call it a day.
