Fly Guy,

I’m just wondering how I can get past this “all men cheat” label that we seem to be stuck with. I’m dating someone now, and I feel like I have to jump through extra hoops just to prove I’m not like other dudes. How can I get past this, because it’s starting to get on my nerves.

What’s up Rich,

There are countless men like you that have to deal with the same stigma when getting to know a woman. It’s unfortunate and unfair, but it’s the cards we’ve been dealt with. The only piece of advice that I have is to just prove that you aren’t like that stereotypical man. That shouldn’t require you jumping through hoops; it should just consist of you being consistent and following through on what you say. In my opinion, that’s the best way to counteract that mindset.     She is probable afraid of been hurt again, so the key is to build trust and communicating is the best way to do that. Keep showing her you’re not like the others and encourge her to open up to you.

    I hate to admit it but I am one of those women who believe all men will cheat. I know its irrational but the fear is still there and going strong. My best advice is that if you truly want someone you have to be patient and understanding.

    WOW @ Third- boo your killing me just up and leave geesh its harsh granted he should have to jump hoops to be with her, and she should learn that the man she is with isnt the men in her past (…..yet if she dont quit trippin)

    and to the comments and the letter:
    A man should not have to pay for anothers mistake. now if she wasnt over the last man when you met her then that was you challenge you wanted to take to get her over him. You should look at the situation first before jumping in thinking you can mend her broken heart some can but for the most part it wont happen. YES it sucks but you learn from it. if you really like her like FG says stick to your word follow threw and she will let down her guard and then everything should be ok…..and if not then thats when “Third of August Rule” comes in. You could be well on your way with a woman that trusts you as you will trust her and… i mean the greatest thing about sticking in there in this case is that when she do finally let down her gaurd and hand over her heart to you. it would be special and it shoudl be a very strong relationship.

    Sorry you gotta work the grave on my birthday weekend….I tried to petition to have July 31-August 3 be a national holiday……but I don’t think the higher-ups were feeling that….LOL!

    As far as the agenda this weekend….I don’t have much planned. Got a cookout on Sunday, and everything else is just me freestyling it. . My actual birthday is Monday (hence, my screen name), and I will most likely be at work saving the world as usual…..LOL

    yea this week is stupid as far as my shift goes i cant hardly wait for a day off im filling out a vacation week now. i love cookouts !! can i come? lol. Saving the world huh well i see why you would party all this weekend. but i hope that you still have Fun at work on your day !

    The cookout was great! (In fact, it just ended.) I have a ton of food left that everyone pretty much let me have. I’ll save you a plate or two and FedEx it over your way. LOL

    Hopefully I won’t have to work TOO hard tomorrow….I’m gonna take it slow since I ate a lot today. LOL

    How was (or is….I forget that y’all are 11-14 hours behind us in the States) your weekend?

    im glad you had a fun at your cook out and my food better be on its way…LOL ;)

    i hope that you dont have to work as hard as well. my weekend was F^$%ed as some will say. im really thankful to have a job and now a second 3rd on but really this job f%^&ed up my schedule really bad to the point that i wasnt even able to get any kind of sleep in total i might have gotten 8 hours of sleep and i mean starting from thursday.

    Like part of me want to raise all kinds of hell but its Sunday and im like f%^& it ! unless all these hours doesnt show up on my check. Then im going to act like i dont know a damn person in here and loose it. and believe me im not going to try and look for it later! lol My weekend is what it is.

    Sorry to hear work has gotten you stressed. Hopefully the end result you have in mind will make it all worth it in the end. I kind of went through the same thing right before I joined the Army…I was working two jobs (one paid really crappy, the other paid decent, but required me to work late night on Saturday and Sundays) and still barely staying above water….

    As far as sleep goes….maybe you could scale back your schedule to allow for more rest….I know people are much more productive at work when they at least get adequate rest beforehand.

    As far as this weekend, it was okay, but (like all weekends) it passed by too quickly for my birthday tastes. LOL…..I didn’t really do much outside of today’s barbeque. I will admit that I secretly wish I had one good friend to hang out with on a consistent basis here in he Army….that is one thing I sorely miss.

    Im sure things should be better for me in general. Im more so excited about my new job and pissed with the schedule keep changeing with my current job. but it’s whatever really. and i know what you mean. About having a friend close.
    i was soo pissed at my bestfriend for going to the army that after i yelled at him i completely didnt talk to him for months but i love him so he knew i had to you kno calm down. I miss having him around and being able to see and speak to him alot and now its like threw aim with icon viewing or a phone call once a month but since his marriage difficulties etc. its barely that. People here are so fake its hard to find that true coo person to keep on your team you know. Im sure you will run across someone there that will keep you busy you know. How long have you been in the Army ?

    I’ve been in for almost a year.

    When I first joined, my friends looked at me like I was crazy (“You’ll never make it through basic!” they’d joke with me) and most of my family and older people I know thought it was a good decision (“You’re setting yourself up for great opportunities once you get out,” they’d say).

    I’m waiting for that one person I know is down to be on the team….lol

    lols yeah i saw it was funny i was like hold up i didnt see this message before. but i caught on to it.
    thats coo i would love the boot camp being able to puch my body and mind more then i thought i could really do is my life story but still i wont do it. It sounds fine and dandy but i cant die out there not knowing what for people may think is for my country. maybe if i gotten a better understanding of it i would be for it as of now i would say uhhhh nope. Especially seeing my best friend coming home and him smoking as much as he do and the dreams he had laying next to me one night iti kinda scary.
