I Hate When Men Cry Too Much

I’ve repeatedly expressed the importance of men learning how to express themselves within the context of a relationship—but there are limits to that expressiveness. Sometimes men go off the emotional deep end and turn into, well … women. It’s in these moments that I begin to question my calling as the Fly Guy. Am I encouraging these men to be this way? I hope not. But the following 3 instances of men crying makes me wonder if I’m the culprit.

Corey Spinks
The son of former boxing heavyweight champion Leon Spinks, Corey went on to become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world. After losing the belt, Spinks made a remarkable comeback, and eventually reclaimed his title. The only problem is that after he won, the tears began to flow in a way that made even his boys uncomfortable. You can hear them in the background saying “calm down man.” For the record, if that were my boy, I’d still be clowning him to this day … which I’m currently doing.

The Game
The Game has always been an interesting dude to me. So when he stepped up to speak out about the Sean Bell killing at the hands of Queens police officers, I found a new level of respect for him. That respect would quickly dissipate when he started to cry because no other rapper would join him on the tribute track. That’s not “gangster.”

Young Guy Getting His Car Repossessed
There’s not much I can say about the guy in this clip. I just wish I was his father or a central male figure in his life so I could set him straight. When the tow truck begins to repossess his car and he starts crying, it reminds me of guys that start snotting up when their girlfriend breaks up with them. Neither example is a laughing matter by any stretch of the imagination, but the tears in both cases are unwarranted.

The Fly Conclusion: My words are by no means an attempt to take shots at members of the male brotherhood. They simply serve as a gentle reminder that we as men can sometimes take the tears too far. In the same way that you work to control your temper, I need that same type of restraint used when it comes to tears in moments that don’t call for it.

Tell me about a time when a guy turned the faucets on and left you thinking “what the f*ck?”

I agree! I can not stand when a guy cry’s too much. Of course it is great when he is showing his emotions but not ALL THE TIME! I have had this happen to me numerous times where boyfriends would cry just because they love me too much. Stop! No need to cry! Just treat me good and I will be happy.

Thank goodness I’ve never had this problem. There is nothing wrong with a man crying, however, there is indeed a point where it becomes too much and questionable.

I had an ex boyfriend cry his eyes out once when I told him our time had run out…it left me feeling weird. I think it’s great when a man is in touch with his emotions but this type of display left me confused…

There’s nothing wrong with a man crying.. We all have our own way of dealing with the hurt and the pain and if it means crying to get it out.. so be it…

Instead of crying some men or women they bottle up hurt and pain inside them.. then it comes out in other ways… that can be fatal….

This man i was involved with would cry all the time,,cause he loved god or me or he was sorry for what he had done in the past.Weirded me out. He also would punch himself in the face numerous times and threaten suicide when he did not get his way..
