Are There No Good Men? One Woman Responds

In our last entry, a male friend expressed his frustration of constantly hearing women lament the lack of good men. In his opinion, the women who usually expressed their unhappiness had no room to talk since they weren’t good women to begin with.

Almost as if the relationship gods had spoken, I ran across this video on Facebook. Check it out as Shanel Cooper-Sykes provides her own opinion on the issue.

**For the record, I don’t believe in the “relationship gods.” The statement was in no way meant to minimize or trivialize my spiritual beliefs. It was just an expression I used to get my point across.

Fly Note: No matter what you think, my mother and grandmother did not make me retract the relationship gods comment. I did not receive any threatening phone calls from them suggesting they might do “a whoo ride” on me if I didn’t apologize to God for disrespecting him with a lame joke.

    Lord Jesus! I think Im in love. This is exactly what I was saying on the previous post ,”The Single Woman Blues”(yall go back and check that out on my homie Fly Guy archive from Monday). In addition to that, why cant the man have a humble start, have nothing, the woman have a humble start, have nothing but when these two souls who are in it TOGETHER can TOGETHER come up and have everything….TOGETHER. You heard what Drake said, ” when I get right, I promise we gonna live it up”. Its a partnership. Bring more than your appetite ladies and a good man is guaranteed to show up.

    Because that sounds too much like how our parents used to do it. And it almost sounds too much like IT MAKES SENSE. LOL

    Seriously, though….people aren’t willing to work together anymore. I’ve never seen so many fairweather women in my life…you know….nobody wants to be there when you’re on the come-up, but the second you make it big, everyone wants to act like they were in your corner the whole time. Y’all ain’t slick……..and it will not go down like that.

    I am in total agreement with Mrs. Cooper-Sykes. In addition, I feel compelled to point out that I am finding more problems with women (including myself), than the men we seek. There are plenty of women who want to find that man to “upgrade” them, their lifestyles, and to usher them into happiness. However, because so many women live with hidden strife, either because they don’t know who they are or where they are going in life they choose NOT to face their own problems and fix them before understanding the kind of man that can compliment them as a human being. As Mrs. Cooper-Sykes stated some women are looking to go too high and expect a man to carry them when they haven’t even learned how to carry themselves. Baby steps ladies…and start with yourselves…

    She is sooooo speaking the truth..becareful what you ask for you just might get it…you best make sure your stuff is in order…Dang FG so this mean i got to turn down Mr Right when he steps my way? Cause i got some things to get in order…it’s soooo much competition out here… I’m almost to Irreplaceable level..LOL….I’m talking stocks and mutual funds…Investment level!!!! not this fake flossing stuff…My man gonna be like dang baby…you investing like that, and your beautiful? Great feed back FG….Ladies get our stuff together! Real men make real moves…but they need a Brilliant mind to keep up with them…They need a woman with physical + Fiscal attraction…if you know what i mean…

    By all means….get your stuff together! But I don’t think you should have to tun down a good man should he approach you while you’re in that process…..why can’t the two of you build together? As a man, it’s refreshing to meet women that can see where the train is heading and actually WANT TO BE THERE DURING THE RIDE instead of all these Mike Jones, vapor-catching, You-weren’t-worth-my-time-when-you-were-on-the-come-up-but-now-that-you-ballin’-I-wanna-act-interested type women all over the place.
