3 Things That Guys Hate To Hear

“I can’t believe she just said that!” That’s precisely what runs through a guy’s mind when he’s forced to participate in what he deems as inappropriate date conversation. What may surprise you is that this occurrence happens more than most women know, or most men would lead you to believe. But I’m about to stop the miscommunication between the sexes once and for all by revealing Three Things That Guys Hate To Hear On A Date. So pay close attention, and use my advice wisely. I’d hate for you to slip up and ……….. well, just pay attention.

1. My Ex-Boyfriend used to…

Anytime you begin your statement describing something that your ex-boyfriend used to do, you’ve already started off on the wrong foot. Constantly mentioning your ex is an even worse decision than the time I introduced Chris Brown to this Island girl. So stay away from that topic at all costs … that is, unless you’re asked a direct question. Bringing up your ex sends out the wrong signal, and indicates you’re not over the past.

2. What did you mean when you said…

Unless your date is trying to impress you with his newfound mastery of some foreign language, then he doesn’t need you to translate his words. Nine times out of ten, there’s no cryptic meaning behind what he’s saying. So if he asks if you’re cold, that doesn’t mean he’s trying to ignite the embers of your heart … he may just want to change tables so you’re not directly under the air vent.

3. What are your thoughts on marriage and family…

If you’ve only been out on a few dates and you’re already asking him this question, then you run the risk of coming on too strong. While I understand there’s a perceived shortage of good men, there’s still no need to scare the guy away by aggressively pursuing this line of questioning. Just give it some time, and as you get to know him, his feelings on marriage and family will become known.

A Fly Request- Now that I’ve shared what guys hate to hear when on a date, it’s time to hear from you. As a man, what are some things that you hate to hear women say? And as a woman, what are some things that you’ve slipped up and said that you knew didn’t go over well?

The floor is officially yours.

The ex-boyfriend comparison is THE most annoying thing a female could possibly say. My lady and I have been dating for almost 2 months and she still brings up her ex, I can’t STAND it. I always tell her, “I’m NOT him.. So do NOT compare me to him.” She’s beginning to understand that it irks the living shit outta me, so she’s not comparing us as much.

One more thing I hate to hear on a date is how drunk she got last weekend or how fun a party was that I didn’t go to. I’ll listen, but I won’t be interested really unless I was there. This happened a lot with chicks in college since most of them were sloppy alchoholics. Ha!

I agree. The ex boyfriend question gets old real quick. I just wish that could be taken out of the female playbook.

@Dom I don’t know about the last part. I’d have to address that pretty quickly, lol.

I personally hate it when women say that they aren’t looking for anything serious, and then turn around and try to push you into something. Just be clear and give the disclaimers out in the beginning..

I agree. We all–men and women–seem to have a difficult time expressing our true intentions and expectations.

“What do you mean….” God i hated that. It took YEARS for my wife to get the fact that i did not speak in other words. What it is is what i said. No hidden meanings and no double speak. And they wonder why men can’t (don’t) speak.

My pet peeve is when guys bring up sex during the first few conversations or encounters. Either asking me for a road map of how to obtain the pussy or just flat out asking for it… When did this start? I understand that it is the end goal, but a man asking me to bust it open after we first meet is equalivant to me talking about marriage and kids to some guy I just met. It is a turn off.

My gf HAD (it too prayer and supplication) a bad habit of comparing our relationship to her friends’. I would say in one way or another, “well then go be with so-and-so. We are not the same. You don’t know what they had to go through to get to where they are.”
