It’s time for another edition of Love Quotables, our ongoing search for the most poignant expressions of love. Here’s a fresh sampling of unique, heartfelt sayings from both everyday people and prominent figures in history. Enjoy.

“She learned to say things with her eyes that others waste time putting into words.”
~Corey Ford

“When you are in love, you can’t fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams.”
~Dr Seuss

“Some of the greater things in life are unseen. That’s why you close your eyes when you kiss, cry, or dream.”
~Anonymous

“If you love someone, you would be willing to give up everything for them. But if they loved you back, they would never ask you to.”
~Anonymous

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
~Mother Theresa

“She was sick … and through all the sniffles, sneezes and endless amounts of snot, all I could see was the most beautiful woman God had ever created. This must be love.”
~The Fly Guy

“Some of the greater things in life are unseen. That’s why you close your eyes when you kiss, cry, or dream.”

I love that. I will be back.

  • Tubbs

    @Mogli,

When did you change your name? You weren’t going to tell me?

  • Just A Thought

“If you love someone, you would be willing to give up everything for them. If they loved you back, they wouldn’t ask you to.”

That’s the truth right there. I read this poem by Franz Wright on another site:

    “I basked in you;
I loved you, helplessly, with a boundless tongue-tied love.
And death doesn’t prevent me from loving you.
    Besides,
in my opinion you aren’t dead.
(I know dead people, and you are not dead.)”

And while I’ve never had someone I love die, I think it speaks to how true love is timeless, unbreakable, and unrelenting – even in the instances when the one you love is no longer with you, for whatever reason.

    @JAT,

    I like that.

I’m not in a sappy mood today, but you people are trying to ruin that.

“Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds or bends with the remover to remove.”

    Shakespeare

Lyrics from the song “Just Because” by Nikka Costa:

Without the words to fall back on
I’m afraid it’s hopeless to describe
And if I tried, I’d probably steer you wrong
Cause a thousand phrases would never say
    How I feel today

    I love you just because

“She learned to say things with her eyes that others waste time putting into words.”
    ~Corey Ford

    How sweet is that?!?!

    I don’t need a Valentine’s Day
to tell you how much I love you
    I don’t need an anniversary
to tell you how much I care
    I don’t need a holiday
to tell you how I feel
    All I need
    all I need is today
    -PJ Morton

That is the chorus to his song “Today” from his EMOTIONS album. The lyrics to his songs reveal his passion for love.

    @eclecticism

Any woman that quotes PJ Morton is alright with me

  • eclecticism

LOL I LOVE him!!! Finally, I can mention his name and not hear, “Who is that?”

So I can go ahead and say FLY AWAY and GOOD DAYS AND BAD DAYS. And there’s no sweeter love than that which comes from a man searching for his SUPERSTAR!

I got this one through my text messages the other day.
    Him: Guess what?
    Me: What’s up?
Him: Nothing. I just love seeing your name pop up on my phone.

Swear, those two screens made my day.

These quotes are from an e-mail I received about love from the perspective of 4-8 year olds. From the mouths of babes!

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she
    > couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
    > So my grandfather does it for her all the time,
    > even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’
    >
    >
    > Rebecca- age 8

‘Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my
    > daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make
    > sure the taste is OK.’
    >
    > Danny – age 7

‘If you want to learn to love better, you
    > should start with a friend who you hate,’
    >
    > Nikka – age 6
    > (we need a few million more Nikka’s on this
    > planet)

‘Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best
    > piece of chicken.’
    >
    > Elaine-age 5

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love
    > you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should
    > say it a lot. People forget.’
    >
    > Jessica – age 8

    And the final one
    >
    > The winner was a four year old child whose next
    > door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost
    > his wife.
    >
    > Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went
    > into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and
    > just sat there.
    >
    > When his Mother asked what he had said to the
    > neighbor, the little boy said,
    >
    > ‘Nothing, I just helped him cry’

be willing to climb a mountain of “no’s” to get to one yes from her.

Well, my personal moment happened about a year and a half ago. A good friend of mine was gradually becoming more than just a friend to me and when I told him that I hadn’t eaten Skittles in a long time (my favourite candy and my nickname) he almost went into cardiac arrest and said “NO!! That’s not right!!!! You’re Skittles, you gotta eat SKITTLES!”. So a couple of days later he drove from his place, which is kinda far from where I live, just to bring me a bag of Skittles. We weren’t in love or anything, but that has to be the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me :-D

Oh, wait, another one comes to mind:

About 3 years ago I was really sick and I was hospitalized for about 2 weeks. My boyfriend at that time went into my email account to gather all of my friends’ email addresses and sent them emails on a regular basis to keep them posted on my condition. I thought it was the most caring thing ever. Yup, that moment tops the other one :-)

    > couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
    > So my grandfather does it for her all the time,

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 *Miss Chelsea*

    @Blaze

Yup…and what did 6’4″ tell me? He “needs a break” which he is still currently taking btw…

But we were dating…it wasn’t love…and it ended just like I predicted to ya’ll it would…so yeah…and I’ve also revealed that I’ve never truly been in love or ever been in a real relationship before…

go back to the archives and check for that homie…

  • DJ K Woods

Okay, mine just happened. I texted my guy and asked him if he would paint my toe nails if I couldn’t. His reply “You know I would.” Right afterwards he sent this “I’d paint them even if you could…”

    I love that guy…

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 *Miss Chelsea*

lol…i asked a guy friend if he would paint my toenails and he said “sure…for $49.95!”

Inflation like a mug…the spa doesn’t even charge THAT much for a pedicure….

  • http://reinasong.blogspot.com REINA

Wait…is this how we’re testing the strength of his love? If he’ll paint my toes? I need to send a text.

    Hi Chelz & Blaze!

    @ Tubbs

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 *Miss Chelsea*

    hey Reina!

Missed yall…remember the days when a post would have over 400 comments in one day?

  • blaze

Whats up Chica… How have you been?

  • misscoco

About 2 months ago I had a nightmare. In it something bad happened and I was in the hospital and I knew if I went to sleep I would die. I started dozing off and as I was about to go to sleep I woke up out of the dream. I don’t know if I died or not. I called my man in the middle of the night and told him about it. His first response was no baby you didn’t die, I woke you up. He didn’t remember any of this a couple days later HAAA

Another one- Last week he calls me and for no reason says you are a breath of fresh air. Whenever I’m feeling down or just want to talk you are always there for me and make everything better. It’s so good to be loved!

  • Nicki=Maxwell Fan

“and if there’s a thing that you need
for you and your blood I will bleed
if ever you yearn for the love in me
    whenever wherever whatever
    baby”
    -Maxwell
and I also like another line in that song “Love forever and a day, Baby..” =]
