I ran across this piece, and wanted to share. In my opinion, the greatest gift that anyone can ever give themselves is an honest self analysis. The writer here uses that gift to perfection by reflecting back over the past year of her life and finding peace in the things that went both right and wrong. I’m feeling this.

365 Days And A Lifetime

One year ago

I thought I was in love

His daughter was birthed last night by the woman he left me for

Nine months ago

I vowed to make this time about me

I’ve regretfully broken two hearts since then

Seven months ago

I contemplated walking away from one of my oldest friendships

I ended up losing three

Six months ago

I thought I knew what heartbreak was

Then I sat at my mother’s side as her last breath left her body

Four months ago

I thought I would never genuinely laugh again

And then in the wee hours of the morning I awoke with tears of joy

Two months ago

I asked God to make it clear to me

He continues to every single day

Three weeks ago

Amidst an argument, I almost lost sight of who I was

And then, in an instant I remembered and was able to ask for forgiveness

Two hours ago

I thought to myself, what a year it’s been

And now, sitting here looking back on it all

I could not be more grateful to have survived it…

Very deep. It is amazing how much can happen in just a year. I thin kwe should all be so introspective.
