Morning Inspiration- Change Is On The Way

I receive an inspirational email called “Smalls Straws in A Soft Wind” every morning. As I read today’s offering, I felt compelled to share it with you. For those in the midst of transition, both in your personal and professional lives, this may be for you. I pray that whatever changes you are going through, that you allow God the opportunity to guide your steps accordingly. Enjoy your Friday.

Small Straws In A Soft Wind by Marsha Burns — November 14, 2008:
You are in a time of unexpected and rapid change as I move you into the next phase of life experience. This is a fast track, and how you respond to this time of transition will determine its level of difficulty. The most beneficial response is to maintain flexibility and to go with the flow and to roll with the punches. If you resist change or try to maintain status quo, circumstances will only become more chaotic and challenging. Now is the time to deliberately relax and be at peace by putting your trust in Me, says the Lord.

Psalm 9:9-10 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

    I can relate this wholeheartedly. A new phase in my life is beginning soon, and I’m excited and a little nervous at the same time. It’s never easy to step outside your comfort zone, but you’ll never grow as a person if you don’t. I know God is ordering my steps, so I willingly accept any and everything He brings my way. I’m in a situation where I really don’t know how to feel…so I’m going to leave it in His hands…and let the chips fall where they may. He’s in control anyway.

  • Just a Thought

    Chillax? Me? BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! I’m working on it, but nobody every told me that inner peace and calm required so much darn work.

    Thanks for the post FG!

  • Just a Thought

    @ T-Moe:

    I know God is in control, but it’s hard to accept that, especially when chaos comes my way or life doesn’t work out the way that I want it to. I spent the last year in mediation trying to get Him to alter his plans to fit mine. Futile I know, but up until 2003 everything nearly fit into the boxes I’d picked. Then God got on this “let’s get closer” kick and my flesh threw a hissy fit.

  • T-Moe

    @J Thought
    It’s hard for me to accept sometimes. Being human..I get selfish sometimes..and I want what I want. Fortunately, He doesn’t give me everything I want, because I would be beyond miserable right now.

  • Just a Thought

    @ Moe:

    I feel you on that. I try to remind myself that everything that looks good, that I think I want or need, is not the best for me. But, I am very stubborn, so He deals with me very firmly. I wouldn’t change anything because I also realize that He’s sovereign and lvoes me enough to give me the best in spite of myself.

  • T-Moe

    @J Thought
    Amen.

  • fabielicious

    Morning ppl and Happy Friday!
    I have truly placed everything into God’s hands (of course he always had control, i just kinda figure we could negotiate on some things lol). I used to be the kind of person that was so set in their ways. I planned what i was doing, what i was gonna eat, wear, everything. Of course, i realized that things never worked out as I planned but as God wants it. He knows what is best for me and here I am!

  • fabielicious

    *her ways

    This was definitely a great morning inspiration. I am going through an amazing change, and it’s traumatizing & scary, but I shall endure because I place my faith in something bigger than me.

    Never been much for planning anyway. My life has veered off down many avenues that I did not expect. And I follow. But there has been times when following the flow has made me uncertain of exactly where I was being led. I have my moments of doubt as I’m only human, but I’m progressing.

    Thanks FG.

  • Nishadiva

    I have placed everything in God’s hands because with him I cannot fail. I know there have been times that I thought I could “fix it” or handle things but the battle is never yours. This post was really needed.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    Hmmm…I’ve made a lot of messed up decisions in my life since I’m so stubborn and so hell-bent on being independent. I’ll go without, rather than open my mouth and ask for someone to do something for me. I’ve made my life much more difficult that it truly had to be in the past because I’m so headstrong and because I want instant gratification all the time. I want what I want and I will stop at almost nothing to get it.

    The most important thing I’ve ever done, however, is get the chinese symbol for ‘Faith’ tattooed on my shoulder. It reminds me to believe wholeheartedly that no matter what I or others around me do, God will always, always, always be there to guide me and cover me with His eternal love. As angry as I get with His timing, and as frustrated as I get with His lessons, I know that I have avoided extreme harm up until this point because I truly believe in Him and His power. Today, as I type this is a perfect example. My day started horribly, but now it has no other option but to get better due to the blessing I received at work today.

    God is good…all the time, ppl. ALL the time!

  • fabielicious

    Preach, chelz!!
    Amen

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    **bows deeply**

    Thank you, thank you, dear followers…without youse…there would be no Chelz! lol…

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Moe

    I thought everything in your life was going smoothly and infecting you with excitement. I’m sorry there is some confusion.

  • T-Moe

    @Reina
    Overall, I’m blessed beyond belief. But there’s always going to be something that just doesn’t quite go your way.

  • fabielicious

    chelz hun, what have you been sipping on this early morning?

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    Definitely true.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Fab

    last night I took some Tylenol Minty PM Cold & Throat something or the other and that stuff has had me on a roll ever since. You should have heard me on the phone at 3am this morning doing a stand-up comedy routine to a friend…but I feel 800% better (cold-wise) this AM….so…yeah

  • fabielicious

    lol chelz,
    Glad to hear that you’re feeling better. Thought you had gotten hold of some gin this morn! lol
    that reminds me of the time I took a pill to help me sleep and ended up practicing that song “Superman” (or wuteva its called) by watching the tutorial on youtube. I was giggling and falling all over the place. So glad nobody was there to witness that LOL

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Fab

    so you can crank that Superman huh? You come to America to better your life, and in your leisure time you down speeling pills and practice teen dances?

    You’re my kinda woman! lol…I can only imagine what you looked like doing that. Hysterical!

  • fabielicious

    chelz,
    i was bored and everybody else knew how to do it so what better time to practice?
    i am a woman of many talents *wink, wink*

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    *sleeping pills*

  • Just a Thought

    doing the superman? Really? LOL, I’m sorry, but no matter how in a disrespectful dance is, i just can’t do it.

    That, and I gave up learning fad dances when I couldn’t lean wit it rock wit it.

  • T-Moe

    @J Thought
    That’s one of the perks of getting older…you can do the same old 2 step…and nobody cares. lol

  • Just a Thought

    @ Moe:

    I know that’s right. I wanna learn how to ballroom/step (midwest style) so I can get my grown and sexy dance on. I have to make a few trips back home for that tho’

  • T-Moe

    @J Thought
    I took salsa lessons for a while..and reached the intermediate level…but I haven’t done it in a long time…so I suck now.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @JAT

    couldn’t lean wit it rock wit it huh? Well you’re in Fl, and you know round here its a new fad dance every 37 minutes, so I don’t blame you…stepping is fun and def. sexy…I say go for it!

    @Moeski

    Let me find out you can shake your Bon Bon…

  • T-Moe

    @Chelz
    My Bon Bon needs a refresher course right now.

  • Just a Thought

    I’m a decent salsa dancer as long as I don’t try too many turns. I sucked at turning in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and salsa. I guess it’s because I was never one of those children that just spun in circles for no reason. My mom never got me a sit and spin either, lol.

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    If we’re talking salsa, I must be included.

  • fabie

    hush, Moe! Nobody mentioned getting older lol

  • T-Moe

    I took salsa lessons because I got tired of being a fly on the wall when I went to Mango’s on S. Beach.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @JAT

    Sit and spin? I’m lost…I guess I was deprived of that as well cuz I dont even know what it is

    @Reina

    of course

    @Moeski

    hmmm…interesting

  • Just a Thought

    @ Chelz:

    And I was in ATL for two years around the time when it came out, so you know I was ‘shamed. I do a mean Kang wang (sp?) with it tho.

    I wish there were more dudes down here that knew it. I’m in a college town so the young bucks have no clue. That, or their too short. I’m nearly 6ft in my stilettos, and I can’t learn the dance if I’m bumping into a negro’s elbow every time he leads me into a spin.

  • T-Moe

    @Fabie
    What happened to the ‘liscious’? lol

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Moe

    whatchu doin round my way Grandpa? Mango’s? Really? wow….

  • fabie

    Reina,
    you can teach us!! I always need a refresher in salsa…neep practice too

  • Just a Thought

    @ Chelz:

    The sit and spin is an infamous toy that allowed toddlers to sit on a round platform with a steering wheel column in the middle (it looks like an oversized chess pawn). The kids turn the wheel, and the platform spins. hence the name sit and spin.

  • esheblue

    I am a pretty good follower with most dances like salsa and other partner dances as long as we don’t get too advanced–taking dance for 18 years will fuel that I suppose

  • T-Moe

    @Chelz
    I’ve been down your way more times than I can remember.

  • fabie

    lol u noticed huh, Moeski? Decided to keep it simple :)

  • Just a Thought

    @ Reina:

    yeah we definitely need lessons. I go to the salsa nights (we don’t even have salsa clubs, a shame) sometimes, but I only get asked to dance if I wear my hair curly and go with my latina homegirls.

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Fab

    I’d gladly teach, but you have to be committed. We Puerto-Ricans take our salsa seriously. And none of you have good rhythm, let me know ASAP. LOL

    @ Moe/Chelz

    I’ve been to Mango’s. I love it. The food is good, too, but the dancing is the most authentic I’ve seen. You’d better be a pro if you want to step out on that floor.

  • Just a Thought

    @ esheblue:

    I envy you. My pittance of dance training has not helped me that much. But all my dance teachers (with the exception of my ballet teacher) said I need to relax more. I just have to concentrate because I’m not the most coordinated. Good thing I have rhythym or I’d be up a creek.

  • fabie

    i wanna go to S. Beach!! Now would be a great time…sun, the beach and mojitoes *dreaming*

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ JustA

    Salsa classes would be right up your alley. It really works the abdomen and hips if you’re doing it correctly. It’s good exercise and great fun.

  • T-Moe

    @Reina
    I kept my behind on the dance floor in the back near the bathrooms. lol

  • Just a Thought

    @ Reina:

    I’m working on getting into some. They are either when I’m at work or at classes. One of my friends is a really good teachers, but he’s two feet tall so I really have to improvise on some stuff.

  • fabie

    Moe,
    By the bathrooms? ewwww LOL
    Reina,
    *raises hands* I have rhythym (sp?). Reminds me that i have to take a belly dancing class. They look like so much fun.

  • fabie

    Just,
    the man cannot be 2 feet tall!! As a short person, i am offended for him HAHAHA

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Moe

    So why’d you stop taking classes?

    @ Fab/JustA

    *wipes forehead* Rhythm is definitely necessary. You also need to be really aware of your body and have strong abs. Most importantly, you have to feel the music. Technique is nothing without soul, as cliche as that sounds.

    I’ve taken belly dancing. That is NOT easy.

  • Just a Thought

    @ fabie:

    Whatever shortie. As an almost tall woman, I am offended that tall men prefer you midgets. It’s just unseemly! LOL

    @ reina:

    Belly dancing is super hard. most people don’t realize how much of your back and chest you utilize, in addition to your abs.

  • T-Moe

    @Reina
    I got sidetracked with other responsibilites..and I never got back into it. I took private lessons to help speed up my progress.

  • fabie

    *gasp* midget? who u calling a midget? hmph! LOL
    Ure so right, we do attract the tall ones. I dont know what it is but i like it!!

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    LOL @ Moe

    Private lessons? One of those girls at Mango’s really made an impression on you. LOL

    @ JustA

    Belly dancing HURTS. I just knew I bruised my internal organs.

  • T-Moe

    @Reina
    A whole lot of women at Mango’s made a good impression on me. LOL

  • Just a Thought

    @ Reina:

    Nah, you just worked out those supporting muscles that go all flabby when you sit at a desk all day. I know this from experience.

    @ Fabie:

    I know. My midget sister, who barely comes to my chin, has never dated a guy under 6’4″. They all flock to her, and I get approached by his short/fat/both friend.

  • Nishadiva

    @chelz

    I have that faith symbol too!!!

    @fab/reina

    Yeah I may need to brush up on my salsa also.

  • esheblue

    @Just

    Rhythm is def. a big part of everything…because there were def. people in my classes that could only do the moves they couldn’t make the moves, you know?

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Moe

    LOL At least, you’re honest. There are a couple of good salsa clubs in DC. I tend to frequent Yuca (I think that’s the name) if I’m in town. It’s not as tropical as Mango’s but the dancing is on point. I’ve gone to Zanzibar once too, but they do salsa in the middle of the week.

    @ JustA

    Girl, I know. I didn’t quit b/c the abs were looking nice.

    How tall are you?

  • fabie

    nisha/chelz
    I cant believe yall have the same tat! How cool is that? I dont have any :(
    Come join us, BFF, we will follow Ms Reina’s lead even tho she says she has her bruised organs lol
    Just,
    lol what can i say? opposites attract ;)
    Moe,
    Oh really? Who gave u private lessons? Pray tell…

  • T-Moe

    @Reina
    I’ve been to Zanzibar a couple of times..but I’ve never been to Yuca. The only salsa spot I’ve been to in DC is in Adams Morgan. I think it’s called Havana. That was a LONG time ago.

    @Fab
    This lady I found on the net. She tried to get me to compete in this instructor/student competition…but I couldn’t commit to it.

  • Nishadiva

    @fab

    Yes my tatt is on my inner right ankle. Yes I am open for belly dancing, that would be crazy!

  • http://chicknamedvick.livejournal.com Ms. Miss

    salsa sounds good right now.

  • T-Moe

    I’m thinking about attending lessons again now.

  • fabie

    Moe,
    Do you find a lot of ladies on the net?
    nisha,
    adding belly dancing to my list of things to do along with getting a tat (maybe)

  • T-Moe

    @Fab
    Yep…I found you, Reina, Miss, Chelze, Nisha, J Thought, Blue, and many others. lol

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Moe

    I didn’t like the Habana place. I take my salsa seriously, and they did not.

    @ The chicas

    I’m with y’all up to the tattoo. Can I get it put on a shirt?

  • T-Moe

    @Reina
    I didn’t know anything about salsa back then, so I couldn’t tell the difference.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Moeski

    You found me? what does that mean?

    @Nisha

    TATTOO SISTAS!! Where is yours?

    @Reina

    Put it on a shirt…close enough for me!

  • T-Moe

    @Chelz
    Fab was trying to be funny when I told her I found my salsa instructor on the net.

    “Moe,
    Do you find a lot of ladies on the net?”

    What you read was my response.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Moe

    Oh…I just saw ‘found…on the net’ and then my name…got scared…image of some miscellaneous sex tape floating around with my image in it floated in my head…sorry. Nevermind…

    Anyway…are we still talking about salsa dancing?

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Chelz…

    Um…is there something you need to tell us?

  • Nishadiva

    @chelz

    its on my inner right ankle. its so cute. lol

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Reina

    it kills me how you always add the elipses…kills me! :)

    And no, I dont have any sex tape sout there (I keep them! HA!) so I’m not worried. But still when ur a chick and some horny old man says he found you on the internet, you get cautious.

    @Nisha

    mine is in that weird space between your breast, shoulder and neck….collarbone area. Like where your bra strap lays. I actually have two symbols…’Beauty’ & ‘Faith’…they’re very sexy and feminine…guys love em.

  • Just a Thought

    @ reina:

    I am 5’8″ so most I’m eye level or taller than a good number of men I men, epsecially if I rock high heels, which I love to do.

    @ tattoo ladies:

    I think I’ll pass on the tattoo thing. Unless I can get it in henna, that way it will fade.

  • Just a Thought

    @ chelz:

    I’m just indecisive. I can’t figure out what I want nor where. Before the tramp stamp became known as such, I wanted one there, but I couldn’t decide what to put on my body.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @JAT

    i understand…as a proud owner of a tramp stamp and numerous other ‘stamps’, i know it’s really imperitive that you get something you love and truly want. I was just joshin ya earlier…they’re not for everyone. I know that.

  • fabie

    Moe,
    touche lol

  • Just a Thought

    @ chelz:

    We’re good. You’re comment did make me laugh. That was the same thing my friend said when I told him that I wouldn’t get a tattoo for my birthday.

  • http://www.myspace.com/205414106 Reina

    @ Chelz…

    I am not a chicken. Just afraid of commitment. Tattoos are forever.

  • http://chicknamedvick.livejournal.com Ms. Miss

    no tattoo for me.
    they hurt.
    and i might not always feel the same way about whatever i tattoo on my body.
    removal hurts
    too expensive.

    i’m all for henna. cheap and only requires skill and will fade.

    Any of you females play sports?

    @blaze

    I played softball but I am not that good and I am super-competitive–not a good mix.

  • http://chicknamedvick.livejournal.com Ms. Miss

    Chelsea, I had like next to no pain having my daughter. But I was lucky. So I honestly have had headaches and toothaches hurt more. I know a tattoo will hurt more.

    what were you smoking? No pain…holy moley…teach me how to be like you! Tats are painful, but obviously not THAT painful cuz I don’t know one person who ONLY has one! They’re addictive…I have plans for at least 4 more.

  • http://chicknamedvick.livejournal.com Ms. Miss

    short story, nurse scared me to death about contractions, got my epidural way too soon, had to have an emergency c-secton and had to have ANOTHER c-section. my mom had to wake me up to tell me meatball head was coming.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    @Miss

    …and THAT ladies and gentlemen is why you ADOPT!

    two c-sections? I bow to you, oh lady of strength and iron-ness.

  • http://myspace.com/misschelsea724 Chelz…

    I’ve always been kinda afraid of pregnant women. I dont like touching their stomachs, I don’t like them being around me…nothing.

    I was dragged into the delivery room with my sis in law while she had my nephew. She started moaning in pain like crazy and begging for an epidural. I couldn’t take it. I exited stage left when the nurse asked that I wait outside until they administered the epidural. Didn’t come back.

    gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it

  • http://chicknamedvick.livejournal.com Ms. Miss

    whoops i meant epidural…TWO epidurals.

    No sports (unless making bank shots in my trash can at work counts). But I look like I do play, so that should count for something

    @ chelz:

    I’m more afraid of stretchmarks, my feet growing (and preventing me from finding cute shoes), and my perfect apple shaped bosoms from being destroyed by that parasitic creature that takes over your body when you’re pregnant.

  • Just a Thought

    @ blaze:

    and please drop the referral to women as females. That irks the crap out of me. If i can refrain from calling dudes nigs, then you can stop reducing us to our biology.

    ‘I’m more afraid of stretchmarks, my feet growing (and preventing me from finding cute shoes), and my perfect apple shaped bosoms from being destroyed by that parasitic creature that takes over your body when you’re pregnant.’

    **dead and buried**

    WOW! Are we sistas from another mista? I told my former fiance that he was only getting 2 pregnancies outta me…IF the first one went smoothly. Call me selfish but I want to keep my body this fine for as long as possible. Saggy boobs and a stomach that looks like a roadmap? Not for me…ugh.

  • blaze

    @J Thought
    Men, guys, ladies,males, females…whats the big deal. Its not like I said girls and it wont be the last time I say the word females. I never heard that to be disrespectful…you’re the first to say that. Any other requests?

  • Just a Thought

    @ Chelz:

    I feel you, especially since the “mommy makeover” at most plastic surgeons costs close to 25K, including the anesthesiologist (sp?). I will work out while I’m pregger, but some things are just bound to get all discombobulated.

  • Just a Thought

    @ blaze:

    Dang, I wasn’t being the school marm with the ruler. Don’t take it so hard. Men are not referred to as males so frequently. I just don’t like it, I think it’s derivative and denigrating. It’s like what ghetto dudes say because they only other words for women in their vocabulary are perjoratives. But do what ya like, sir.

    As for requests, you could go to PapaJohn’s online and send a pizza to my job because I will be here late if I can’t get out of this assignment.

  • blaze

    @J Thought
    Its all good and Im sure the men, males, or the guys here on this site dont trip when we’re broken down by our most basic biological from as XY chromosomes daily. It cant be any more derivative and denigrating than that but I never to care. We know its meant not to be disrespectful and who’s complaining.

    I was glad I came here today. That is a very nice and inspirational.
