I Believe.

I never wanted to use this column as pulpit to profess my faith. That was never my intention. It was always my belief that doing so would push away the ones who needed to hear me the most. But I hope you don’t mind if for just one moment, I break from that policy to share some very personal reflections. (Is that ok?)
There have been those who have both publicly and privately questioned me as of late. They’ve wondered if I’m really qualified to give anyone advice about love and relationships, or if I’m even “worthy” enough to call myself The Fly Guy. But none of that stuff matters.
Am I an imperfect being? Of course. I’ll be the first to admit as much. But The Fly Guy Chronicles has never been about my pursuit of perfection, and naming myself the Fly Guy had nothing to do with who I am, or what I want you to believe about me. Instead, it has everything to do with WHO I believe in.
Life is tough. We all know that. And when you mix in love and relationships—the one thing that’s technically supposed to make life easier to face—then things can really get complicated. That’s why my faith is so important to me. Because no matter who may let me down or disappoint me; and no matter how my heart might get broken or who may deceive me; I’m a firm believer that God has the ability to work things out on my behalf. It’s because of His protection in my life, that I know that whatever comes my way, I’ll be alright. That’s not me trying to be preachy…that’s just my sincere belief.
It’s this same belief that transformed me into “The Fly Guy” that I believe myself to be. It’s a belief that allows me to keep bouncing back in the face of adversity, and gives me an unyielding resilience to continue to get up after being knocked down. That’s what makes me fly. It’s not a six-pack or model -good looks; it’s a belief that I’m going to be ok, no matter what comes my way. This “fly” transformation also forced me to stop focusing on the negatives of life, and on those who fail to see the promise and potential in me.
When I look at you, I pray for that same type of “fly” attitude within your own life. I want you to keep your sights squarely focused on the positive outcome and not the circumstance … on the end goal, and not the obstacle.
So no matter what comes your way, just keep believing. Keep believing that better days are ahead and most importantly, keep believing that your situation is destined to improve. Whether that statement can be applied to your job, your relationship, or your own personal happiness, just keep believing.
**So stop focusing on there being a shortage of good men, and instead believe that there is one man out there just for you.
**And stop yielding to the whispers that all women are damaged and crazy, and instead believe that you’ll one day find a balanced woman that understands you.
(Do you get where I’m coming from?)
Here’s is Today’s Fly Inspiration:
Victory belongs to those who keep looking at the goal. Not the going; not the process, but the prize. Not the trial, but the treasure that’s promised to those who persevere.
Take a moment to listen to “I Believe” and have a great day. Oh, and keep believing.

The Lyrics:
Lord you’ve never let me down
You’ve always made a way
When there seemed to be no way
Over and Over, Time and Time again
Lord, you’ve always been faithful
I’ve seen it in Your Word
And I know it for myself
How you have brought me, through each storm and test
I believe on You Lord
I believe in Your Word
To see
Your goodness in my life
I believe on You Lord
I believe in Your Word
To see
Your goodness in my life
