Before I begin my upcoming series on the psychology of men and women as it pertains to dating and relationships, I thought I’d share this hilarious perspective on the subject.
Behind every great joke, priceless nuggets of wisdom can be found when listening to comedian Dave Chappelle. The following clip is no exception, as Chappelle effortlessly weaves his way through various topics which are very relevant to our ongoing debate between the sexes.
So check out the clip, and answer the following questions:
1). Do women set themselves up to be treated a certain way by the way they dress?
2). Is chivalry really dead?
3). If it is dead then who killed it?
4). Do magazines affect a woman’s view of herself?

GOT CHA Bish! lol i love dave..
1.) This one i struggle with. Yes and no. Yes because if you dress like a hooka then you’ll get viewed like a hooka does. but no cuz we should dress however we feel that day w/o fearing we are gonna have that random guy in the club grab the backs (though most guys grab it no matter what you are wearing)
2.)YES!!
3.) well we can on with this one, the whole “goon” mentality now (thanks plies)..but dave does have a point.
4.)To me it doesn’t cause i know i look good, lol..but 4 real for some women it does. the whole retouching and seeing these women that mags call the “perfect body” when you can see if said woman digested a skittle…it can make a “healthy” woman feel bad.
way to be honest Bahama. As far as your answer to #4 goes, I think that many women struggle with seeing those perfect images. But I think that guys struggle with it as well, because we want our women to be perfect too. So, we at times become dissatisfied, because we feel like all of these perfect women are out there waiting on us, when in all actuality, many of these women in magazines are more flawed than the ones that we’re with.
Good Point FG.
1) Yup. Because you KNOW people are gonna look at you of you look like a streetwalker or a video “vixen” . It shouldn’t be this way, but it’s the way society and peoples minds work…
2)Hell Yeah, it’s dead. Sad but true
3)Unfortunately woemen killed it by not expecting it anymore somehow.
4)Yes, magazines do affect the way women view themselves in my opinion. Especially if they already have selfesteem issues. They see these perfectly airbrushed women, but forget that that’s what it is. A good airbrush job. And just like you said FG, men struggle with it too, which makes it even harder, because everybody wants to be more than perfect and everybody expects another person to be perfect.
By the way…luuuuuuuuuuuuuuv your blog! Keep up the good work :-)

Damn, I miss spellcheck…
because you know people are gonna look at you a certain way IF you look like a streetwalker or a video “vixen” .
imma comment on that last 1st and tell all yall that them women in them damn magazines ain’t real real women have curves, deal with it, love it, embrace it…now on to the rest in order…
1. yup dress like a ho imma think you a ho, and more than likely that ramdom dude gon think the same, but you still gotta respect that ho dressing scallywag like any other woman….
2.yes, chilvary died waaaaaay back when, prolly when jodeci played out that is my guess…lol
3.ummm imma elborate on my girl’s comment and say fools like plies, lil wayne, simpleton’s like that murdered it, we need all men to be FG’s lol…..
1). Like Bahama, I think all girls struggle with it. Looking good comes with a sense of pride and confidence, and knowing you’re turning heads makes you feel good. But, girls we can definitely take it tooooo far. There’s sexy and there’s skanky, and that’s a fine line many chicks don’t know how to balance on.
2). Yes, for the most part. There are a small minorty of men who still get it, but they’re few and far between. Or they’re married or gay. LOL!!
3). Women killed it with the feminist movement, but also because we stopped demanding it and settled with not getting it. Men (and music like chrissy snow mentioned) have been perpetuating it because they know they no longer have to give it. Us women have sunk, lowered our standards.
4). Most definitely.A study was done a while back with a group of women. 1/2 read those beauty mags every day for a month, and the other 1/2 weren’t allowed to. At the beginning of the month, all were asked their opinions of themselves. By the end of the month, those that read the mags had their self esteem drop significantly. And like you said, FG, men are doing it too now, which makes women feel like they’re not wanted if they don’t look like, dress like or act like the girls in the videos or in Maxim. I think we all need to just shut off the TV, radio, stop reading filth and get back to reality.
