Dear Fly Guy,
I must say that normally I’m right in line with all of your relationship views, but last week you really threw me for a loop. Your piece on regular people was in my opinion extremely offensive. There is nothing wrong with being regular. This world would be a much better place if there were more regular people in it. Instead it’s filled with pretenders, who strive to be something they aren’t simply because society demands more. Instead of fixing the problem, I think you contributed to it. People respect your opinion, and you did your readers a disservice by taking that stand. Other than that, I will continue to support your column, as I think it is so needed. My week really feels incomplete without the Fly Guy.
As a side note, I recently saw you host a fashion show, and you were absolutely awesome. You are even funnier in person!!! I also wanted to tell Gabby, who wrote in last week, that the Fly Guy is even sexier in person. It was actually nice to see the man behind the words. You really have a way with people. Take care.
Cannon
Dear Cannon,
Thanks for the email. It always concerns me when a reader misinterprets the message I’m attempting to convey. It’s leaves me full of mixed emotions…kind of like the time I had to borrow Little Richard’s hairbrush. But just like that greasy brush, there was so much more beneath the surface of what I was saying. My call for the end of regular people wouldn’t encourage the birth of more “pretenders” as you suggested. Instead it would spark an increase in the amount of people who are unafraid to be confident and comfortable in their own skin. Ultimately it’s the dynamic and not the “regular” people of the world who capture our imagination. And since you are special in your own way, you should allow your strengths and uniqueness to shine through. That would actually allow you to stand out and be appreciated more. Once you begin to embrace the true beauty of you, then you should start to see an increase in your dating and relationship success. Before you know it, you’ll have a line of potential suitors longer than the one waiting to take the Anna Nicole Smith paternity test. Once again thanks for your input on the topic. Keep reading and commenting.
