No Turning Back

Believe it or not, I wrecked my car today. There’s no need to be alarmed; it was my fault. I was too busy looking at this accident in my rearview mirror, and forgot to pay attention to what was in front of me. The next thing I know, I’m slamming into the back of this raggedy white pickup truck. Looking back on it all, I’m beginning to realize how my mistake parallels common relationship behavior. How many times have we been guilty of focusing too much on what’s behind us, failing to keep our eyes fixed on the road ahead. I once had a girlfriend that was so caught up in what her ex-boyfriend did to her, that she began to lose sight of all the joy and happiness that we were adding to each other’s lives. It almost cost us our relationship. Am I saying that we should forget about the pain of the past? Of course not. Instead, I want you to use those experiences to keep you mentally sharp and aware of potential pitfalls and dangers that may lie ahead. But you should never look back again. You may just wreck your current or future situation. Can you dig that?
