You can see it all over my face. It’s always been that way. And as much as I try to fight it, I’ve never been really good at masking my emotions. So you can imagine my face when the call came through… (Note: the names have been changed to protect my friends)
“Yo”
“Fly Guy, I’ve got some bad news to tell you. Michelle is in the hospital in serious condition. Her boyfriend Donnie found out that she was cheating on him and just snapped. She called me right before it happened, saying that she knows she really hurt him. The last thing she told me was that she was going over to his house to apologize and to see if he was ok. I don’t know what happened after that but it looks like they got into a fight. One of the neighbors found Michelle out front in a pool of blood. Now she’s in the hospital and Donnie is nowhere to be found. I just don’t want you or her brother to do anything stupid. Please promise me that you won’t.
“I promise. I’ll talk to you later.”
And that’s how it all went down. My friend is still not doing too well. Her man banged her head into the pavement 14 times. I can’t believe he did that….he seemed so normal. I can’t believe she cheated on him…she seemed so happy. I guess you just never know.
Why do people cheat in the first place? I know that I’ve done my dirt in the past. But it took me going through having my own heart broken to finally wake up and say, “Wow…is that the pain I’ve been causing?” I bet that’s how Mike Tyson felt the first time someone knocked him out. It was probably even more painful for Vanilla Ice the first time he listened to Ice Ice Baby.
The bottomline is we’ve all experienced the agony of having our heart ripped out. So why would you want to inflict that on anyone else? Unfortunately my friend found out the hard way about the dangers of a lover scorned. Learn from her mistake. On the flip side, I need my fellas and some of my stronger ladies to hear me out. (I’m about to put this in bold letters….that lets you know that I mean it) I don’t care how bad it hurts. I don’t care how betrayed you feel. Why would you throw away your life, by physically hurting someone. This guy had a great job. A promising life. Now he’s in jail, and if my friend doesn’t pull through, he’ll be facing murder charges. It’s just not worth it. If someone can’t respect you enough to be faithful, then just walk away from the situation. You deserve better. So be proactive in making your life better by removing yourself from the relationship. Don’t make it worse like this guy did. (Okay, the Fly Guy is officially off his soap box)
